Moclin is in the Granada province of Andalucia within an area known as del Poniente Granadino less than thirty minutes drive from the city of Granada itself. In the 15th century, the Castle of Moclin known as the "Shield of Granada" by the Moors was the first strategic fortress to be taken by the Catholic Monarchs in their drive to conquer Granada. The fort was left to decay and a christian church built on it's ruins. |
